Explore the Tarka Trail



The Tarka Trail is a 180 mile circular route around North Devon. The trail runs through some of England's most spectacularly beautiful countryside, taking in a variety of habitats, from tranquil estuaries to rugged moorland and lush green valleys. It starts in Braunton and heads west, following along the River Taw before looping northwards and crossing Exmoor. From here it passes through some charming market towns such as Barnstaple before heading back towards Braunton.


The trail is perfect for cyclists and walkers alike, with plenty of options for those looking for an easy ride or something more challenging. For cyclists there are sections on dedicated cycle routes, while walkers can take advantage of footpaths along riverbanks and alongside wooded areas. There are also plenty of entertainment options along the way; beaches to explore, water sports to try out, historical sites to discover and numerous pubs where you can rest your feet after a long day's journey.
