Reconnect with nature on the South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path is a 630-mile route along the magnificent coastline of South West England. Starting in Minehead, Somerset, the path winds its way through an array of breathtaking landscapes before emerging on to Saunton Sands beach in Braunton. From here you can follow the coastline north past Croyde Bay and Combe Martin before entering Woolacombe’s picturesque sand dunes and finally concluding your journey at Hartland Point.

The path follows an ever-changing landscape, taking walkers through quaint fishing villages and historic ports, past rugged cliff tops and secluded coves – all with spectacular views of the sea.

At each stop along this remarkable route, visitors can find secluded coves washed by clear turquoise waters, thatched cottages framed by rolling hills and hidden gems such as Baggy Point where you can take in views of Lundy Island out to sea. If you’re lucky enough, you might even catch sight of a few dolphins or seals!

For those who prefer a more strenuous hike, there is plenty to challenge yourself with too; including numerous headlands and steep cliffs which are home to rare flora and fauna. For example at Bull Point it’s possible to spot Dartford Warblers – one of Britain’s only native birds found exclusively on these clifftops.

You can also explore historic villages such as Clovelly or Lynmouth with its breathtaking harbourside views during your journey. For those seeking a spiritual experience, take a visit to Lundy Island which lies off the coast - here you will find stories of Viking raids and tales of smugglers that make this island so intriguing!

Whether you're looking for stunning scenery or fascinating history - North Devon has it all on offer! So why not get out there today and experience one of Britain's most awe-inspiring coastal walks!
